The Bristol Blue Five NOT a Blues Band, but a jazz line-up offering a new take on Trad Jazz tunes, sing-along favourites, and obscure popular tunes from between the Wars. Veteran hot cornettist Dennis Armstrong is joined by "Long Tom" Whittingham on trombone and Phil Wall on sax and clarinet. Rhythm, and inventive solos, are provided by Mike Beard on guitar and banjo, and versatile young pianist Phil Blandford. The Bristol Blue Five provide swinging, and occasionally challenging, entertainment.
For further information contact Dennis Armstrong. 16 Manworthy Road, Brislington, Bristol BS4 4PR. 0117 971 7952. 07733 154058. denmojazz@blueyonder.co.uk.
